The Plateau State Association, United Kingdom (PSA-UK) has successfully inaugurated a new set of leaders, marking a smooth transition of power during a virtual ceremony held on 30th August 2025, with members joining in from across the UK.
In his valedictory speech, the outgoing president, Mr. Rwang David Chall, reflected on his tenure, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for the future. Mr. Chall noted that despite the hurdles faced, his team recorded significant milestones such as organizing a protest at the Nigerian High Commission in London to draw global attention to the killings in Plateau State, delivering relief materials to crisis-hit communities back home, and establishing the digital infrastructure that enabled the Association to thrive virtually in the post-Covid era.
Encouraging his successors, Mr. Chall advised them to be prepared for “the good, the bad and the ugly” as they take on leadership, while urging them to remain focused and steadfast.
Delivering his inaugural address, the newly elected president, Dr. Solomon Chollom, pledged to make the Association “a home for all.” He emphasized the importance of building a close-knit community in the UK that reflects the hospitable and peaceful spirit of Plateau State.
Dr. Chollom further extended an open invitation to all Plateau citizens in the UK to identify with the Association, stressing that “we have more to give and take together.” To back this up, he announced a three-month suspension of the mandatory membership subscription fee, allowing new members to join the Association for free as part of efforts to drive inclusivity and strengthen membership.
The event was filled with goodwill messages from elders and members, who shared personal testimonies of how the Association has helped them reconnect with their roots and relive fond memories of life in Plateau State.
