DR. SOLOMON CHOLLOM The Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Federal University Lafia has been upgraded to Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science. Also, the University has created College of Health Sciences out of the present College of Medicine. The newly created College of Health Sciences will house the newly created Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science among others.
This much was revealed by the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lafia, Prof Shehu Abdul Rahman during the maiden edition of the Induction and Oath Taking Ceremony of the pioneer graduates of Medical Laboratory Science which held on 11th March, 2025 in the university.
Our correspondent gathered that the Department of Medical Laboratory Science inducted over thirty graduates in it maiden outing
The Head of Department, Prof Surajudeen Junaid while presenting the graduands to the Registrar of the Medical Laboratory Scince Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Prof Tosan Erharbor said they satisfied all requirements for the award of Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degrees and provisional licenses to proceed to their one year internship programme to continue their development.
While receiving the graduates, the Registrar of MLSCN administered the oath and subsequently presented provisional licenses to the newly qualified medical laboratory scientists. He called on the them to work within the confines of their practice and shun unprofessional tendencies
It was an electric atmosphere that saw friends and families of the graduates in jubilant moods in full solidarity with their loved ones.
