The Members of the National Assembly representing Barkin Ladi/ Riyom & Jos South/ Jos East Federal Constituencies, Hon Simon Mwadkon and Hon. Dachung Bagos respectively, shared concerns over insecurity challenges within their Constituencies – including recent attacks of citizens
At the plenary session of the House of Representatives on 7th October, 2020, Rep. Mwadkon moved a motion on the destruction of lives, farmlands and properties in various communities in Plateau State and it was seconded by Rep. Bagos.
Rep. Mwadkon called on the federal government to release the promised funds to help in the rehabilitation of victims and to strengthen security presence. He also called on the National Emergency Management Agency to ensure relief gets to the victims. He then called on the House Committee on Police Affairs to ensure the Inspector General of police mobilizes the special mobile police officers to the region to beef up security.
Rep. Bagos in proposing an amendment stated that the insecurity has spread to many other committees in the state. He went ahead to urge police to take local intelligence very seriously as well as desist from arresting those who provide such local intelligence. The motion was voted on and adopted as amended.
