2019 Starter Pack: Start with the End in Mind

If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time – Zig Ziglar

This is no anxiety; it is motivation! Anxiety has to do with restlessness and to the extreme, restiveness; motivation on the other hand has to do with equanimity and positive drive.

If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time – Zig Ziglar

This is no anxiety; it is motivation! Anxiety has to do with restlessness and to the extreme, restiveness; motivation on the other hand has to do with equanimity and positive drive.

It is also an express statement of vision. It is to see clearly where you are not from where you are. It is to dwell in the ecstasy of possible accomplishments from the point of taking off.

It is different from building castles in the air, just as it varies markedly from hallucination and wishful thinking. Vision comes with a kit loaded with strategy and roadmap which the former lacks

The quest for laurels, glory and recognition would make an Olympian train intensely for four years, denying himself pleasure and leisure just to run a 100m dash within 10sec. Imagine the weight of sacrifice for a performance of less than 10sec. He is working with the end in mind

What you are out to start this year is a project that cannot be smooth all the way. Times of discouragement would come. People would misunderstand you, they may brand you with unprintable signatures or berate your conviction. Worse still, your resolve will come under intense scrutiny not just from people around, but also from you, especially during those cold, long and dark moments

Would you stay focused on the glory set before you and fire on or damp the glory and retire into oblivion? Would you envisage the heroic celebration and the imminent status upgrade waiting for you at the finish line or get stuck in your tracks and traps of cowardice and self- sentenced prisons

If your start off point and the finish line are not magnetic enough to keep you on track, be sure the pursuit would be utopian. There has to be active communication and intense magnetic field ticking the entire landscape of your adventure from start to finish.

Also, learn to communicate with your project. At the beginning, speak actively to it that the journey is starting and the final destination is sure and uncompromising. At the middle of the project, speak to it and assure it that you have conquered territories to reach where you are and you are upbeat about the finish line. At the end, you should not be unmindful of speaking in appreciation to those who stood with you throughout the journey, knowing well that the end of one project is automatically the beginning of another.

Starting with the end in mind is also critical to  budgeting and planning. A helicopter view of the entire project will enable you organize the right men, money and machines. It will provide space for strategic planning in the short, medium and long term. It will enable you draw a straight line from point A to point Z and that will become your shortest possible distance to hitting your destination in record time

Starting with the end in mind is like going to space with your telescope. It is also like going to war with your compass. It gives you the confidence you need to drive on no matter the terrain. It enables you  identify landmines remotely by raising the yellow, red and green flags at just the right times.

Lastly, there is no controversy whatsoever, you either strategize well to see the end of that project from the beginning or you have the project see your end in its life time.
