The fold of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau state has been hit by a major crisis days to the launch of her state campaign. This follows the renunciation of party membership by Hon Ayuba Burki who was the candidate of the party in the last local government elections in the state and the outburst of Hon Pamson Dagyat, Former Statistician General of the state.

Hon Burki who was believed to have won the last local government elections with landslide victory, reason for PDP challenging the outcome in the tribunal, is known for his towering popularity in Mangu and has goodwill of people across the state

Reacting to the development, Hon Pamson Dagyat lashed out at the Chairman of the party, Hon Damishi Sango, describing him as a disaster waiting to happen

“(We) brought to the PDP attention the non-inclusion of some persons in the PDP State campaign council but many PDP faithful rather than see sense and initiate corrective action but chose to wave it with a stroke of the hand. Today at the eve of launching (campaign for) our flag bearer, Oga (Ayuba) Burke resigned from the party. This is a chairmanship candidate of our party in Mangu whose election saw PDP fly high”. Dagyat said.

Dagyat also said that he has been frozen out of the party based on what he called five count charges preferred against him

“I am one of the excluded persons on a thousand plus Campaign Council list but was most astonished by the five count charges that was listed as reason of my exclusion:

1: That I refuse to tweak Langtang North PDP LG Chairmanship primaries to favour JT’s candidate. For the record, I held a primary that was free fair and contentious/petition free.

2. That I am annoyingly Jang advocate. I pledge not guilty and for those who believe licking Sango’s shoes against their benefactor, Jang will secure them better fortune I wish them luck.

3. That I am against the nomination of (Dr James) Dalok. JT like all other aspirants in the primaries had their individual baggage. JT’s baggage are age and health challenge, I promoted younger running mate of the likes of Dr. Solo, Magna etc or we settle for experience in the likes of (Prof Shedrack) Best, (Barr Danield) Mwutfwan etc but (Dr James) Dalok was a stranger and the reconciliatory management was not effectively done.

4. That I continually challenge the leadership of Sango. Yes because we brought him to reconcile the party from the event of 2015 and not to divide it further with the event of 2016.

5. That I am promoting 3rd force. It was Sango who continues to echo the third force more than APC and blacklist those he ‘rejected’ as the 3rd force”

He added that he had attempted to broker peace in the party to no avail

“Just for the record, I have access to Sango and Jang, and unlike others,  I made a personal attempt to broker harmony after the presidential primaries between the two with witnesses  only to be brazenly told by Sango that ‘Na fi karfi in kira Jang or go to his house’ except if Jang will do the calling or come to my house. Is this a spirit of a party leader that can lead his team to victory?”

The party has been trying to ignore, play down or conceal the crises rocking it but with recent happenings, the call for frank reconciliation can never be louder except the party wishes to embark on a while goose chase in the coming elections
