The people-oriented leadership style of Gov Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State rose to a new high today with the commissioning and mass distribution of movement aids to about 1,151 physically challenged people in Jos.
Our correspondent learnt that the event was held at the Governor’s residence, old government house in Jos to mark the 2018 International Day For People Living with Disabilities
Following the gesture, some citizens have applauded the action of the governor insisting it was born out of genuine concern for the citizenry. Others dismissed it as a political move to curry for votes as the 2019 general elections are fast approaching.
A critical observer said that the government would have passed for a good friend of the physically challenged if the outcome of the recently conducted local government elections in the state, especially the chairmanship election for Mangu LGA had gone to the widely presumed winner who is not just on wheelchairs but a front runner in the distribution of Wheelchairs to physically challenged people in the state and beyond.
