Good health does not just come by. It comes by careful observance of a mixture of sound health education, decent lifestyle and livelihood as well as meticulous adherence to professional advice and counsel. While there are inherited diseases, progression to full blown disease state can be delayed or halted by adoption of a healthy lifestyle
The first is that you must learn to visit the hospital for medical assessment when you are healthy because if you wait to visit the hospital only when you are sick, you may not return home as the hospital may end up as your final residence before your remains are taken to the grave side. This is because most diseases do not hit hard on first call; they settle in subtly, weaken the body defense system, derail body systems, compromise critical organs as well as retard tissue regeneration without apparent clinical signs. The danger signs develop gradually but can remotely be tracked by regular health checks and addressed at a manageable state before degenerating into a full blown disease
Secondly, it is essential that personal hygiene is taken seriously. Eat right and well. It is not in the quantity but in the quality. Not every preparation of delicacy equates as food as some are pure poisons in view of their effect on vital organs and disruption of biochemical and physiological equations. Diseases such as cancer, diabetis, hypertension are exacerbated due to dietary intake
Exercise regularly. It is important to exercise at all times. These keeps to body fit, especially joints and keeps blood veins clear thereby maintain good distribution of oxygen and nutrients to the brain and other cells of the body. Exercise increases metabolic rate and burns off residual fat which excessive build up could injure the heart
Avoid anxiety. Be happy and contented with what you have and where you are. Be ambitious but don’t be anxious. Forgive others and do away with malice. Anxiety opens up the cells to release stimulants that increase heart rate and alter sympathetic nerve responses
Pre and antenatal care. Take this seriously. Pregnancy is not a responsibility that the woman alone bears. Encourage her to go for pre and antenatal care and occasionally go with her. At this stage the processes leading to normal formation of life are monitored and guided. Errors are immediately corrected and congenital diseases are either treated or prevented. The early life of the newborn is also critical, feeding is from the mothers refined products. She has to be neat, healthy and well nourished. This has a direct effect on the baby’s growth and well being. Vaccination is exceptionally critical since the baby defense system is not mature enough to defend against rampaging infectious agents.
