G50 Initiative for Health (GIF-Health) is an organization composing of 50 Medical Laboratory Scientists. It is committed to a broad range of health interventions from advocacy, diagnosis, research, training as well as facility upgrade, all geared at strengthening the health system in Nigeria.
GIF- Health is partnering with Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) to stimulate secondary school students in essay writing and promotion of medical laboratory science profession.
Pursuant to the above objective, GIF- Health is hereby calling for entries from interested secondary school students for an essay competition on a topic "My unforgettable encounter with a medical laboratory scientist". The essay which must not be more than 500 words must be original, interesting and informative. It must be submitted with double line spacing, New Times Romans font size 12. Entries should be made electronically through gifhealth@yahoo.com not later than 12 midnight of 31st October, 2017. Each essay must follow the following format:
Title
Name of student
Phone number of student
Email of student
Name and class of school
Name and phone number of principal
Body of essay
Screening format:
All essays will be subjected to two stages of screening: Virtual and physical screening. The virtual screening will see our panel of editors review all the entries based on predetermined guidelines.
Best 10 essayists will be invited for the physical screening where they will appear before the screening panel to defend their entries. The physical screening will hold on 12th November, 2017 at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna.
At the end of the exercise, 5 best essayists will be invited along with their School Principals to the award presentation ceremony which will be held on the dinner night of the AGM of AMLSN that would hold at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna between 12th and 18th November, 2017. The best three essays will be rewarded handsomely while the remaining contestants will receive consolation prizes.
