Decades ago
In droves they drove
An advancing army
From one direction
Matching towards Plateau
Determined to conquer and control
In numbers innumerable
Gestation of stillbirth
The build up was bullish
The sky was dark
Fear gripped Plateau
They matched first and fast
Bows and arrows
Spears and clubs
Aimed at us
Fierce and fearful
Gloom loomed
Alas!
It was a stillbirth
In the loins of forefathers
I watched the drama
The attackers gathered
They spoke one language
The had one purpose
To conquer and control us
The beautiful Plateau
The tin and columbite
The fertile planes and plateaux
The serene weather
Alas it was a stillbirth!
Our fathers gathered
Surrender was no option
The Plateau spirit awakened
Transcending tongues and tribes
Traditionalist consulted mediums
Pastors prayed
Warriors stood with sticks and stones
Elders held hands
Women sang to stir
They formed a band
An impenetrable wall
The mark of resistance
Reason for stillbirth!
The attackers came
They struck but got stuck
They never returned
Deflated and defeated in the feat
I watched the celebration
Massive across Plateau
Plateau one voice
Reason for victory
Aborted gestation
A glorious stillbirth!
Years later
Another team regrouped
Massive on hills and rocks
Armed in camp
Again our forefathers stood
Resolute and determined
Attackers came
And never went
Swallowed again
In hills and caves
A devastating stillbirth
The tactics changed
They came with trade
They sold
We bought
We shared markets
Trade boomed
Land and conscience sold
Leaders bought over cheaply
Cracks on the Plateau
Bombs and guns resurfaced
Trade turned hate
Bond turn bloody
The rebirth of stillbirth!
Today its full picture
Genocide the mission
Communities the target
Blood flows freely
Mass burials daily
Plateau! Plateau!!
Our forefathers did it
We have their DNA
Let's do it again
Make it a stillbirth
Know their antics
Spoil their tactics
Aggregate not segregate
Know your friends
Know your foes
Move as one
Your unity your strength
Your division your peril
One Plateau
One voice
For rebirth of stillbirth!
