INSPIRATION 101: TEAM AND TEAM SPIRIT
Teams are constituted for synergistic action, broadband approach and timely output. This is based on the belief that team members will inspire and complement each other. A team is usually a collection of more than one entity expected to work as one. The challenge of peak performance in teams is that of bonding, blending and focus.
A team must rise and fall together. It must share the spoils of success and bear the brunt of failure without buck passing. It must submit its individual components to a homogenate blender of collectivism. It must see one as all and all as one. It must seek to unite in diversity and diversify in unity. When the bonds of fusion are strong, a team emerges as a solid, indivisible entity immune to artillery of divisiveness. Unfortunately, when the blending is compromised, the centre fails to hold things fall apart.
When team members leave complimentary roles and embrace competition, forces of attraction become sources of attrition; everybody's job becomes nobody's job. Strength becomes weakness; assets become liabilities. Vision becomes blurred and team members choose to see through refracted lenses instead of seeing eye-to-eye through vacuum. Energy is used to fight members instead of common goals. Partners are treated as parties and enemies within become stronger than enemies without. Inadvertently, explosion gives way to implosion thereby paralysing the system. A team that does not make friends of its members may have made enemies of them
