Dear Teacher,
Today, Yere-yat enrols into this school…
Teach her to know herself, love herself and be herself
Teach her to know her God and how to be at peace with him
Teach her about people, places and things and let her know how to relate with them
Teach her what she should know and not just what you know
As you teach her about figures, also teach her about virtues
Teach her the necessity of work, the pride of truth and the shame of strife
Teach her what she must do and don’t forget to tell her what she must not dare
Don’t just give her marks, let her earn them
Don’t teach her to be like you or any other, coach her to be who she is
Don’t tell her what she wants to hear, tell her what she should hear
Don’t teach her what is good, teach her what is right
Open her mind to what is good and let her know and keep away from evil
Tell her how to talk and when to say what
She may look small and vulnerable, but don’t take advantage of her. Her angels are with her
In her innocence, she is vast in potentials and opportunities
Help her with kind words when she is down but don’t let off the rod when needed
If you can help her identify and develop her personality, you will be rightly remembered as a TEACHER
